SDF is ten minutes from Downtown, and Derby week is the one time of year when that changes completely.
This guide covers how ground transportation works in Louisville: which airport suits which destination, where cars can actually collect you, when the city books out, and what to send us so a quote comes back right the first time.
The airports
| Code | Airport |
|---|---|
| SDF | Louisville Muhammad Ali International |
Most scheduled traffic uses Louisville Muhammad Ali International (SDF).
Every airport pickup is tracked against your flight number. If the aircraft lands late, the pickup moves with it at no charge, and your chauffeur meets you inside at baggage claim with a name sign rather than waiting on the arrivals road.
Where journeys actually go
Most Louisville bookings run between the airports and Downtown Louisville, NuLu, Old Louisville, Highlands. We also cover St. Matthews, Jeffersontown, Churchill Downs and the rest of the metro.
Bourbon trail day trips out to the distilleries are a regular hourly booking, usually in an SUV.
When the city is busy
Demand here is driven by Derby week, bourbon trail tours, logistics employers. Those are the weeks when vehicles book out first, so a booking made early is worth more than a booking made carefully.
Venues that generate regular work include the Kentucky International Convention Center, the Brown Hotel, Churchill Downs. For events at any of them, we agree the drop-off point in advance rather than discovering on the night that the entrance is closed to traffic.
Leaving town
Regular long-distance runs from Louisville go to Cincinnati, Lexington, Indianapolis, Nashville. Door to door in one car often beats a short flight once airport time is counted, and it is usually cheaper than several separate fares once a group is involved.
What to send when you book
- Pickup address, destination and the date and time
- Flight number for anything airport related
- Passenger count, plus checked and carry-on bags counted separately
- Child seats, with ages and weights
- Anything unusual: pets, oversized items, venue access, accessibility needs
A note on pricing. We do not publish rate tables. Every journey is quoted for the exact route and the fare is fixed before you travel, so it does not move with traffic, weather or demand.
