Kentucky Derby
The Derby is a two-day event for most people who travel for it: the Oaks on Friday, the Derby itself on Saturday. Louisville takes on several times its normal visitor load for the week, hotel space goes months in advance, and the roads around Churchill Downs stop behaving normally from mid-morning.
Almost everything that goes wrong on Derby day is a ground-transport problem. People underestimate the approach, park somewhere they cannot easily get back to, and then try to leave at the same moment as everybody else after the last race.
Getting Around Kentucky Derby
The approach is the hard part
Central Avenue and the streets feeding Churchill Downs are managed with closures and one-way flow on Oaks and Derby days. Which gate you can be dropped at depends on which ticket you hold, so we need your gate or entrance name, not just 'Churchill Downs'.
Leaving is worse than arriving
Sixteen races end with a single simultaneous exodus. Rideshare pickup zones sit well away from the gates and surge hard. A chauffeur who has been told where and when to stage is the difference between walking a mile in formalwear and not.
Dress code works against you
Hats, heels and seersucker do not combine well with long walks, heat or a May thunderstorm. Door-to-door matters more here than at almost any other event.
Flying in
Louisville Muhammad Ali International (SDF) is close to the track, and private aviation volume into SDF and Bowman Field spikes all week. Give us the tail number and FBO for private arrivals.
What We Provide
- —Door-to-door service to the gate your ticket actually uses
- —A chauffeur who stages nearby and collects you where you were dropped
- —Both Oaks and Derby days booked as one arrangement
- —Hourly as-directed cars for parties moving between events all week
- —Group vehicles for corporate hospitality and large parties
Vehicles That Suit It
Tell us the headcount and the luggage and we will size the vehicle rather than defaulting to the largest. Every fare is quoted for your exact route and fixed before you travel — there is no event pricing and no surge.

Can you drop us right at the gate?
At whichever gate your credential allows, as close as the closures on the day permit. Tell us the gate name when you book and we will plan the approach around it.
How long before the first race should we leave?
Considerably earlier than the drive time suggests. We will work backwards from your gate and the day's closures and give you a pickup time when we quote.
Can the car wait between Oaks and Derby?
Yes. Most Derby clients book hourly as-directed for the two days so the same chauffeur and vehicle stay with the party.
