The Met Gala
The Met Gala occupies a single evening but reshapes the east side of Central Park around it. Fifth Avenue is closed and controlled near the museum, arrivals run in a managed sequence, and the carpet has a schedule of its own.
Almost all of the ground-transport work is staging and timing: being in the right place, at the right minute, and available again hours later when the afterparties begin.

The blocks around the museum are closed and controlled on the evening. Only credentialed vehicles approach the arrival point.
Arrival order is managed
Guests arrive in sequence rather than when they choose. The chauffeur stages nearby and makes the final approach on cue.
Preparation runs all day
Fittings, hair and makeup mean the vehicle is usually committed from the afternoon, not just the evening.
Afterparties run late
The evening continues downtown well past midnight, so the car is needed long after the carpet closes.

Almost always. Preparation takes most of the day and the car is needed throughout.

As late as needed — afterparties routinely run past dawn.
