Art Basel Miami Beach
Art Basel is nominally one fair at the Miami Beach Convention Center, but in practice it is a week-long programme spread across Miami Beach, Wynwood, the Design District and Downtown, with satellite fairs, gallery openings and private viewings running simultaneously.
The result is a week of short, frequent journeys between districts separated by water, which makes it one of the most car-dependent events in the country.
Getting Around Art Basel Miami Beach
The causeways are the constraint
Moving between Miami Beach and the mainland runs over a small number of causeways. During fair week they are slow in both directions for most of the day.
The satellites matter as much as the fair
Wynwood, the Design District and Downtown all host parallel programmes. A typical day involves several crossings.
Works travel too
Collectors and galleries move pieces as well as people. Vehicle choice sometimes has more to do with what is being carried than how many are travelling.
Evenings are the busy part
Openings and dinners cluster at night, when demand across the city peaks together.

For fair week, almost always. Days involve many short movements and a car that waits removes the repeated waiting.
Can you carry works?
Tell us what is travelling and we will send a suitable vehicle. We are not an art shipper, but we carry a great deal alongside passengers.
How bad are the causeways?
Slow, consistently, during fair week. We build the real timing into the quote.
