Formula 1 United States Grand Prix
Circuit of the Americas sits southeast of Austin off Highway 130, away from the city. Unlike a street circuit, the track itself is easy to reach — the problem is that a very large crowd arrives along a handful of roads that were never built for it.
The race weekend also comes with a substantial concert and entertainment programme, which means the crowd arrives and leaves at different times from a normal race day.
Getting Around Formula 1 United States Grand Prix
Few roads in, many cars
Access funnels through limited approaches off Highway 130 and Elroy Road. Arrival time matters enormously; the difference between leaving an hour early and on time is measured in hours.
Concerts move the exodus
Post-race performances keep a large share of the crowd on site for hours after the chequered flag, which changes when it makes sense to leave.
Downtown Austin is the base
Most visitors stay downtown and travel out each day, so the corridor between the city and the circuit carries the load twice daily.
Texas October
Still hot, with the possibility of heavy rain. The site is large and much of the walking is uncovered.

Should we stay for the concert?
Many do, and it genuinely eases the exit. Tell us your plan and we will time the collection around it.
How early should we leave downtown?
Earlier than the drive time suggests, particularly on Sunday. We will give you a time when we quote.
Can you move a large group?
Yes, up to coach size, with one coordinator for the weekend.
