SXSW
SXSW is three overlapping festivals running across downtown Austin, with official sessions at the convention center and several hundred unofficial events in bars, warehouses and hotel suites nearby.
Downtown Austin is compact, which sounds helpful and is not: street closures, pedestrian volume and a dense venue map mean vehicle movement through the core is slow for the duration.
Getting Around SXSW

Parts of downtown close to vehicles during the festival, particularly in the evenings, so drop-off happens at the edge of the zone.
Official and unofficial are different maps
Badge sessions cluster at the convention center; the events people actually want are scattered. Days involve a lot of crossing.
The airport corridor is loaded
Austin-Bergstrom sees a sharp arrival spike at the start and a departure spike at the end, both of which load the same corridor.
Everything is booked
Hotels, vehicles and restaurants all commit early. Late bookings are frequently unfillable.

Can you get into downtown during the festival?
To the edge of the closure zone. Within it, the walk is usually faster than any vehicle could be.
Is a car worth it downtown?
For airport runs, evening movements and anything outside the core, yes. Inside the core at peak, walking often wins and we will say so.
Do you cover team programmes?
Yes, with one contact and one invoice for the week.
